James Cowper has created a specialist team to advise businesses working in the ‘green’ economy.
The firm already has a strong track record in the environmental sector but believes green issues are set to become a greater focus for mainstream businesses too – as the scrutiny on environmental practices and reporting increases.
James Cowper, through its expertise in the technology, corporate finance and agricultural sectors, believes it is well placed to provide the type of advice clients will need.
‘Measuring carbon footprints is on course to become a standard requirement for companies listed on the London Stock Exchange. It is not inconceivable that carbon reporting will become part of the annual financial reporting cycle,’ said Paddy Thompson, who heads up the new team.
James Cowper already works with a cross-section of ‘green’ businesses. These range from manufacturers of sustainable building products through to AIM listed businesses exploring innovative energy technologies as well as advising local authorities reassessing their approach to municipal waste streams.
‘Opportunities abound for organisations willing to embrace change and prepared to anticipate and exploit new legislative parameters,’ added Thompson.
‘The green economy is all about investing now to create sustainable long term benefits in reduced costs and increased profits.’
