A new online recruitment service which offers a full career management service and promises to put candidates in complete control of their career decisions, launched last week in the UK.

Newmonday.com provides vertical professional and career information, tailored career opportunities and guidance for career seekers during all phases of their career.

"The control is changing to an employee-driven market," said Roderick Wijsmuller, managing director of newmonday.com.

"Today recruitment is about empowering the jobseeker, and the current job listings model is shifting towards a model where comprehensive services are part of the online recruitment service."

As well as having job vacancies posted on the site, seekers can use newmonday.com to access online careers advice, information on training and courses, and details of relevant conferences. Jobseekers can also enter and maintain their personal profile, including both hard and soft skills, in the newmonday.com database, which is then matched to new career opportunities.

Newmonday.com aims to hold 400,000 CVs online by the end of this year.

This service is fully confidential and, although a matching tool links jobseekers to suitable jobs, employers cannot access personal information without the consent of the jobseeker.

"Our focus isn't so much the CV as a commodity. We focus on the people behind the CV as a community," Wijsmuller adds.

IT job placements are expected to represent a "big chunk" of business for the site, and already there are 30,000 jobs posted.

The newmonday.com online service, which is a joint venture between Computing publisher VNU and Randstad, the world's third largest staffing firm, is complemented with realtime support from 'e-cruitment' consultants, and access to a freephone contact centre.
