Bakery chain Irwin's is using an electronic data interchange (EDI) system to
better manage information on its customer network.
The new platform ensures that the correct products are delivered to the right
customers, while cutting down time spent manually imputing and updating data.
The EDI system also allows Irwin's customers, including Tesco, Sainsbury's
and Asda, to send orders in their own required message types.
"Accuracy of data is vitally important to our business, so our EDI system
must be easy to operate and manage, as well as available to the entire business
on-demand," said John Brennan, EDI specialist at Irwin's.
"We cannot afford to disappoint our retail partners with incorrect deliveries
for both financial and reputation reasons. The new system helps us avoid this
potential problem by keeping our data accurate and available."
