Telecoms VAR Chess has made its first acquisition of 2008 and its 25th in
total after acquiring the customer base of Synex Network Services.
Birmingham-based telecoms provider Synex is a Microsoft Gold partner and has
five employees.
Richard Btesh, director of corporate finance at Chess, said: “It is a good
customer base that we feel we can make the most out of.”
Btesh affirmed that Chess’ acquisitive strategy will continue this year and
indicated that it may branch out from simply acquiring other telecoms resellers.
“Anyone with a good customer base is of interest to Chess,” Btesh said. “There
are 1,000 resellers in
the UK that are potential acquisitions. Small businesses cannot be all things to
all men. Over the next 18 months technology may [increasingly]determine our
strategy and that of our competitors.”
Synex managing director Ann Taylor said: “I was advised to approach Chess
when I started thinking about selling. I am confident that the transition will
be a smooth one and our customers will be more than satisfied.”
