Channel veteran Grahame Smee has acquired specialist distributor
Appspeed
for an undisclosed sum.
Smee, who is also managing director of distributor
Cohort
Technology, exclusively told CRN that Appspeed - which specialises in
virtualisation, storage and server-based computing – would be a good fit for his
future plans.
“We are delighted at this acquisition,” Smee said. “Appspeed has a great
range of emerging products and the virtualisation, storage and server-based
computing market is one we have wanted to get into. This is going to give us
access to a broader breadth of reseller and vendors, and will also help our
existing resellers get into new areas.“
Smee said it was too early to discuss any potential changes to the company
structure, but admitted there would be some ‘combining of assets’ at the
back-office.
“We don’t want to dilute any sale specialisation that we have got,” he said.
He also confirmed he would be taking over as managing director of Appspeed with
immediate effect.
Channel insiders insist the network access control (NAC) market is in rude health despite the demise of NAC vendors Lockdown Networks and Vernier Networks. 28 Mar 2008
