Three thousand calls a year on redundancy law are made to the Institute of Personnel and Development's legal helpline. And this figure is set to rise with the increase from £12,000 to £50,000 maximum awards for unfair dismissal, due later this year.
To meet with demand, the IPD has published Redundancy, a 'legal essentials' guide, timed to coincide with last month's cutting of the length of service necessary for unfair dismissal from 24 to 12 months.
