UK carrier Cable & Wireless (C&
W) has announced a five-year deal with mobile operator Orange to use its mobile
network for calls when its customers go out of range of their in-building mobile
network.
C&W acquired a licence for low-power GSM radio in May 2006, allowing
customers' in-building mobile calls to be routed over C&W's IP network.
The aim behind the deal is "to reduce the number of devices enterprise
customers use, increase the locations they can use them, and so reduce mobile
costs", said C&W in a statement.
