Web content management firm Vignette has updated three components of its flagship Web Experience platform, giving customers the ability to offer more compelling web site experiences and improved collaboration tools.

Vignette has updated its Content Management tool, which helps firm streamline and manage the creation of web content. New features include new URL-generating tools, which allow newly created web pages to be linked more closely to the original domain, thereby improving site search rankings, said Vignette's product marketing manager, Guy Westlake.

Other new features include capabilities to offer a smoother upgrade path from older environments, and integration with High Performance Delivery (HPD).

HPD is Vignette technology designed to help firms create faster, more compelling web experiences. It is also integrated with the latest version of Portal.

“In today’s fast-moving online world, organisations need to constantly deliver fresh and engaging content," said Westlake. "Vignette Content Management helps eliminate web content bottlenecks, while our Portal product integrates tightly with Web 2.0 applications such as blogs, wikis and mashups.”

The firm also announced new features in its Collaboration product, including ratings, reviews, tagging and usage analysis, and enhanced support for blogs, wikis and discussion forums.
