If you want your desktop to look a little bit special you can create new icons for it with IconMagic
IconMagic has a very easy to use interface with a large editing window and a preview pane showing how the final icon will look. There are lots of painting tools and plenty of pre set shapes that can be re sized to fit your needs. You can select patterns for shapes and the background.
It is also to change the system icons from within IconMagic to customise Windows as you want it.
