ThinkCP offers sub-$10,000 storage platform

High performance computing firm ThinkCP Technologies has rolled out its Think ViPoR Storage 10G-Extreme SAN Solution, claiming to provide a complete storage platform for under $10,000.

The fully integrated core platforms provide between one and four AMD Opteron quad-core processors, 12TB to 48TB of Sas or Sata II iSCSI San or Nas storage, and an optional 10Gig-E NPU multi-path NIC.

The entry level 2U 12TB iSCSI system is priced at just under $10,000, and is designed for small businesses with rigorous IT requirements through to departmental and large enterprise customers.

ThinkCP said that the Neterion 10Gig-E interface enables network administrators to preserve their primary network environment, infrastructure, cabling, operating systems and administrative tools without the need for additional training.

The platform features Open-E software that helps deliver easy to manage, OS independent storage applications with "proven performance in heterogeneous network environments", according to the company.

Craig Resnick, product development manager at ThinkCP, said: "We think it's incredible that we can provide a 12TB 2U iSCSI San solution with an Opteron quad-core CPU for under $10,000, especially with performance this impressive.

"Many of our customers agree, having discovered these solutions to be ideal, cost-effective storage platforms for certain ISP, surveillance and streaming media applications."
