Autonomy has released a new security tool that it claims will help firms better manage their security procedures and streamline internal investigations.
The Situational Awareness Web Portal provides enterprises with a rich user interface that offers an overview of security and surveillance activities, Autonomy said.
The portal is designed with internal security teams in mind, and gives users a conceptual analysis of security issues or scenarios.
Because the information is web-based, Autonomy said that it could be accessed from anywhere in the enterprise, including a mobile phone or internet kiosk.
This, Autonomy explained, would let security professionals engage in hands-on investigation and monitoring throughout the premises.
"The new Situational Awareness Web Portal is yet another powerful tool to enable security professionals to connect to intelligence in real time, offering the unrivalled ability to automate security operations and uncover threats which would otherwise be missed," said David Humphrey, managing director of Autonomy Virage.
"The portal offers great advantages to companies by allowing security officers to securely monitor and analyse intelligence through a standard internet connection."
Using Autonomy's Intelligent Data Operating Layer technology, which assigns meanings to events, the system is designed to recognise any security risk issues or behaviours and associate it with currently held intelligence.
To increase its effectiveness, the portal can be integrated with a large amount of other data sources, such as tools that read and recognise licence plates, video surveillance and face recognition, Autonomy said.
